Restaurant Week officially kicks off in New York City on January 21. Running through February 9, the annual promotion applies to a total of 54 eateries across Brooklyn, ranging in cuisine, price point, and atmosphere. You can browse through all of them right here.
All participating restaurants have one thing in common: they are genuinely excited to introduce (or, perhaps re-introduce) New Yorkers to their stellar menus at a relatively affordable cost. This season, all pre-fixe specials are $30, $45, or $60. Some are offered during lunch or dinner only, while others are plating out deals all day.
Given the popularity of the program and the vast variety of stellar specials offered, we suggest you start making some reservations ASAP.
But before you do, comb through some of the best Restaurant Week deals in Brooklyn below.
French Louie
320 Atlantic Ave.
There are precisely three reasons French Louie is a perennial favorite: it caters to both carnivores and vegetarians alike, it’s right next to the Barclays Center and BAM (making it the ideal pre- or post-show stop), and it serves a vast selection of delicious French and American wines. This Restaurant Week, the eatery offers a $30 lunch option and a $45 dinner that includes dessert. Don’t sleep on the charred carrot salad and the roasted beet dish served with greens, carrot hummus, and drenched in lemon yogurt. But if you’re into heartier foods, opt for the cast iron chicken or the branzino.
Pasta Louise
803 8th Ave.
If all you ever want to eat is pasta, you should probably lock in a reservation at Park Slope’s Pasta Louise ASAP. The restaurant’s $30 lunch and $45 dinner will only be available during the first week of the program (Jan. 21 through 26). And while precise menu details have yet to be released, we can safely assume fresh pasta dishes will take center stage come Restaurant Week. The classic roasted tomato sauce option — made with Bianco DiNapoli tomatoes, onions, and garlic — is always a favorite. So make sure to try it if they give you a chance.
Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue
267 Flatbush Ave.
If you’ve got some (meat-eating) kids in tow, Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue might be an ideal destination for Restaurant Week. It also happens to boast some of the best deals in the borough. For three weeks, the eatery is serving a $30 lunch and dinner menu Indulge in all the Texas-style BBQ your heart desires and and don’t sleep on that frito chili pie, which is exactly what it sounds like.
The Greenhouse Cafe
7717 Third Ave.
Though it’s a far more likely setting for weddings and birthday parties, Restaurant Week is a fantastic opportunity to explore the menus at this nearly 50-year-old Bay Ridge cafe. The $45 lunch and dinner options will be available throughout the week, featuring a pretty hefty variety of apps, entrees, and desserts. To start things off, we suggest a simple-sounding house salad or a dish of mozzarella and tomato. As your main dish, try the chicken saltimbocca or the salmon filet (unless you’re brave enough to order the mixed grill dish, which comes with a filet mignon, pork loin, chicken breast, and crimini mushrooms). And cap it all off with the almost requisite apple strudel for dessert.
Tong
321 Starr St.
This Michelin-approved Thai spot in Bushwick is participating in all three Restaurant Week sessions, offering $30 lunch menus and a $45 dinner roster. Although starters will remain the same throughout the day (serving goong pae, yum lumyai, and fried herb-marinated chicken skin), the mains will differ slightly based on the time of your meal. The grilled branzino in hot and sour broth is a filling midday option. But if your reservation is for dinner, try the slow-cooked beef soup inspired by southern Thai Muslim cuisine. Between the two dessert options—sweet sticky rice with mango compote and basil sorbet — we suggest the former for traditional flavors and the latter for a truly refreshing end-of-meal experience.
Leuca
111 N. 12th St.
When celebrity chef Andre Carmellini first debuted Leuca in Williamsburg back in 2016, it was all the rave. Although plenty of other restaurants have opened in the area over the years, the neighborhood joint still holds a special place in many hearts. Be it the Italian wine list or insanely good pasta dishes, Leuca is always a hit and we never really need an excuse to visit. But if we were ever searching for one, Restaurant Week would be it.
Nick’s Lobster House
2777 Flatbush Ave.
Given it’s the end of January, enjoying your lobster on the outdoor deck of Nick’s Lobster House probably isn’t in the cards. But you’ve got multiple dining rooms to choose from inside the iconic Mill Basin seafood-slinger, which is stepping into Restaurant Week with a $30 lunch menu including an appetizer, a main course, and the dessert of the day and a $45 four-course prix-fixe for dinner featuring all of that, plus a soup or salad.
Lé Chai
1904 Utica Ave.
Surely one of the most unique restaurants in NYC, Lé Chai blends traditional steakhouse fare with authentic Thai flavors, courtesy of founding restaurateur David L. Thomas. During Restaurant Week, the specials are reserved for the $45 dinner. But should you find yourself in their Flatlands dining room, start with the scallion pancakes, and move on to the skirt steak with a side of garlic mashed potatoes for a true fusion experience. For dessert, keep it simple: the chocolate cake rules.
Mesiba
353 Bedford Ave.
The $60 pre-fixe dinner at Mesiba is worth every penny, especially if you factor in the atmosphere that comes along with your dishes (“mesiba,” after all, means party in Hebrew). To be quite honest, the entire menu at the Tel Aviv-inspired restaurant is so good you might want to opt out of the pre-fixe and just order everything a la carte. Whatever option you choose, try to work in the lamb neck and the branzino. And be sure to add cocktails to your selections as well: they are wildly well made.
Nami Nori
236 N 12th St.
Nami Nori deserves your attention whether it’s a cold winter night or a bright summer day, especially if you happen to be following a vegan diet. To be clear, the temaki pros behind the counter of this cozy Williamsburg sushi spot serve plenty of fish, but there is something about their dedication to all things veggie that will make you want to forgo salmon and tuna for something a bit… crunchier? Throughout Restaurant Week, the Japanese joint is serving a special selection of temaki — the Japanese version of tacos, basically — for just $30 during lunchtime.
Masalawala & Sons
365 5th Ave.
“Restaurateur Roni Mazumdar and Chintan Pandya explore the yesteryears of India from the perspective of a 75-year-old immigrant man from Kolkata—Roni’s father,” reads an official description of the Park Slope eatery. I mean, do you really need any other reason to visit? Details regarding the specific Restaurant Week offerings have not been released, but we advise visiting no matter what ends up on the menu.
Shan
191 Smith St.
The $60 five-course Restaurant Week menu is a great way to try a good variety of fare at this modern Szechuan spot in Boerum Hill. From orange-scented lotus root to different types of dim sum, roasted duck with sturgeon caviar, snow pea shoots with garlic, and ice jelly desserts, there are a ton of options to choose between, each one more creative and interesting than the last. There’s also a $30 lunch menu available, which offers a three-course prix-fixe meal.
Le Crocodile
80 Wythe Ave.
If it’s a luxurious French meal you’re after, Le Crocodile – inside the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg– might be for you during this Restaurant Week. Keep things classic when indulging in the $45 lunch menu; go for the Waldorf salad with walnuts, celery, and stilton as your entree, and follow that up with a half chicken with herb jus and frites. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
