SUNY DOWNSTATE HEARING: A state-appointed advisory board to help the government devise a plan for the future of SUNY Downstate’s University Hospital is scheduled to hold its first public meeting today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The hearing, which will take place on Downstate’s campus, is the first of three public meetings mandated by a state law that aims to improve transparency into the state’s plans for the East Flatbush teaching hospital. The advisory board is required to submit a plan for Downstate before April 1.
PHOTO GALLERY: Roslyn-based St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center, part of Catholic Health Long Island, has opened an art gallery featuring local artists, which hospital administrators say will create a more relaxing and therapeutic environment. The gallery, opened at the hospital in partnership with the Art Guild of Long Island, is displaying 34 landscape photographs taken around Long Island. The works will be on view for six months with a new rotation of images to be installed in the summer.
