SURGERY CENTER: Huntington-based Atrium Endoscopy plans to build a freestanding ambulatory surgical center at a cost of close to $2 million. The project will involve converting two private surgical offices into a single practice specializing in gastroenterology, according to a filing with the state Department of Health. The facility will have two procedure rooms in leased space, with a transfer and affiliation agreement with nearby Huntington Hospital, the filing states. The renovations are expected to take six months to complete.
MUPPET MEDICINE: New York-Presbyterian is partnering with Sesame Workshop, the philanthropic arm of Sesame Street, to launch a public education campaign about health lifestyles for children and parents. The collaboration includes a video series where the hospital system’s doctors and Sesame Street characters answer questions about topics like sleep habits, food allergies and medical check-ups. Other resources will be made for New York-Presbyterian patients and families, including guidebooks for parents, storybooks for kids, and themed play areas, and will be available at the health system’s hospitals and clinics and at local community centers.
