Eleven of North America’s 50 best bars are located in New York.
That’s according to new rankings released this week by the World’s 50 Best organization, which also creates lists for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and 50 Best Hotels.
The highest New York name on the 2025 list is Superbueno at No. 2. It sits just behind Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City, dubbed the continent’s best bar. Both Superbueno and Handshake Speakeasy retained those same spots from last year’s list.
Perhaps the most notable new entry to the list is Sip & Guzzle, a Greenwich Village bar that opened last January and debuted at No. 5 on the North America rankings.

This is the fourth rendition of the list, which is determined by 300 voters ranging from bartenders and bar owners to drinks writers and educators to well-traveled cocktail experts. The World’s 50 Best organization is a product of U.K.-based William Reed Ltd.
The organization released an array of other honors along with the 50 Best list, including an “industry icon” award that recognizes an “individual who has made the most significant contribution to advancing the bar industry.” That award went to Julie Reiner of Clover Club and Milady’s.
