Fancy Food Show 2025: business opportunities in the food industry according to ITA’s Raimondo Lucariello

On the occasion of the Winter Edition of the Fancy Food Show 2025 in Las Vegas, we interviewed Raimondo Lucariello, food manager of the Italian Trade Agency. This event, which is an important showcase for made in Italy, saw the participation of many companies consolidating the Italy Pavilion, Country Partner of the Fancy Food, as the first international pavilion of the event. Lucariello tells us about the opportunities offered to small and medium-sized Italian companies and how our country is making a name for itself in the competitive American food market. And then there is the perception of Italian food in the United States and the fundamental educational role of the Italian Trade Agency in introducing Italian gastronomic excellence. All under the banner of the big dream: to see Italian food recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

How is the event going?

The event is going very well. We have about 77 companies and 101 booths, and we are confirmed as the first international pavilion within Fancy Food. This is the fourth year that we are Country Partner, and we are a reference point for American business operators. The companies we have talked to are very satisfied.

What is the significance of this event for Italian small and medium-sized enterprises?

It is essential to mention the assistance activity we provide to Italian small and medium-sized enterprises. We organize activities at trade fairs, offering legal and technical assistance for participation and export of products.

What opportunities are there for micro brands?

Small companies have the opportunity to find their positioning in the U.S. market through our support and organization of events that facilitate meeting with buyers.

What is the perception of Italian food in the United States?

The perception is always positive. Americans love Italian products, but they don’t always know the variety we have to offer. Our role is educational, presenting new products and the excellence of made in Italy.

What can you tell us about the recognition of Italian food as a UNESCO heritage site?

It is essential to recognize the importance of conviviality associated with Italian eating. This recognition is important because Italian cuisine represents more than just nourishment; it is an essential part of our culture.

What anticipations do you have for the New York Summer Fancy Food in June 2025?

We are already preparing the pavilion, which will reach new records. This year we had a peak export in the food and wine sector, with $7.8 billion. It will be the biggest fair ever, and we expect an incredible event.

Do you have a final message for the audience?

We would like to thank Universal Marketing, the Specialty Food Association and the Italian Trade Agency. This work would not be possible without the support of the institutions and the Italian diplomatic system. See you in New York!

Many thanks to the Italian Trade Agency, the Specialty Food Association and Universal Marketing for hosting us at this prestigious event.
