News updates

After a lender-initiated foreclosure auction Tuesday, RFR Realty has surrendered 285 Madison Ave., a 26-story, 530,000-square-foot tower in Midtown. Korean investment firm DAOL Asset Management, which had provided $205 million in mezzanine debt for the property in 2017 and then sued last year when RFR failed to pay it off, is the new owner. A firm spokeswoman said that RFR declined to offer a bid for the mixed-use site, which it purchased for $189.3 million in 2012, according to the city register.

A Times Square office building slated for residential conversion could now include as many as 1,250 units, according to recently revised plans, which were first reported by The Real Deal. Crain’s reported in January that the three developers plotting the conversion at 5 Times Square, Apollo Global Management, RXR and SL Green, had submitted permits to build 942 apartments at the 38-story office tower.
