NEW IMAGING: Stony Brook University Hospital plans to add a new mammography machine to its line-up of imagine services, according to a new application filed with the state Department of Health. The device, known as a Full-Field Digital Hologic Mammography Machine, will be located on the first floor of the hospital’s ambulatory care pavilion and will cost more than $700,000, according to the filing. Most of that funding will pay for the equipment itself, with installation costing roughly $42,000.
PAYROLL PROBLEMS: A survey conducted by a group opposing the ongoing overhaul of the state’s popular consumer-directed home care program shows a large number of aides in the program have not been paid by its new administrator. New York Caring Majority, an advocacy group representing participants and homecare workers, released a new survey of 477 program aides, 57% of whom said they had not been paid by Public Partnerships LCC, the Georgia-based company selected to take over payroll for the more than $11-billion program, in the second pay period since the firm officially took the helm on April 1. PPL has denied the results of a similar survey in the past, arguing respondents answered before money hit their accounts.
