Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos Endorses Cuomo for Mayor

Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos Adds to Wave of Support for Andrew Cuomo After Endorsements from Rep. Espaillat and Bronx Leaders

De Los Santos: ‘New York City must be safe, just, and functioning for all New Yorkers and under Andrew Cuomo it will be again. He will expand community policing to keep our streets safe, stand up to Washington D.C. when Donald Trump discriminates against immigrant families, and make the city function as it should have always been.’

Governor Andrew Cuomo, candidate for New York City mayor, today announced the endorsement of Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos, who represents Northern Manhattan’s 72nd Assembly District, which includes the neighborhoods of Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill. Assembly Member De Los Santos is a dedicated public servant and the first Dominican-American man elected to the New York State Assembly; he is known for his strong advocacy on behalf of working families and his commitment to building a better future for his community. The endorsement follows the high-profile backing of Rep. Adriano Espaillat over the weekend, underscoring Governor Cuomo’s proven leadership during crises and his commitment to defending New Yorkers from harmful federal policies under the Trump administration.

New York City must be safe, just, and functioning for all New Yorkers and under Andrew Cuomo it will be again. He will expand community policing to keep our streets safe, stand up to Washington D.C. when Donald Trump discriminates against immigrant families, and make the city function as it should have always been,”Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos said. “Our city is in crisis–and he’s the one to fix it– and that is why I am honored to join his broad coalition in supporting his campaign.”

“I’m deeply grateful to Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos for his support and his unwavering commitment to the people of New York City,” Governor Cuomo said. “Manny understands that public safety, justice, and basic city services are not luxuries — they are rights. His partnership and leadership are invaluable as we fight to restore competence to City Hall and I’m proud to have him by my side in this campaign.”

These endorsements follow other Manhattan elected officials that support Cuomo for Mayor, including Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs.

Throughout his career in public service, Governor Cuomo has been a champion for working New Yorkers. He raised wages for millions and protected the right to organize when the Supreme Court tried to break the back of the labor movement. Governor Cuomo increased access to healthcare, enacted the nation’s strongest paid family leave program and expanded apprenticeships, vocational training, and workforce development programs. He also advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall and the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia Airports – all major projects built with union labor.
