SUPPORTIVE HOUSING: The city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene issued a $12.8 million contract to an Upper West Side-based affordable housing developer to build apartments for people who have experienced homelessness, incarceration or psychiatric hospitalization, according to a notice in the City Record on Tuesday. West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing received the contract through the city’s 15/15 supportive housing initiative, which was launched by former Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2015 to build 15,000 apartments by 2030. The contract begins in June and extends through 2040.

MEDICAL POLL: A proposed warning label from former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy may have changed some attitudes towards alcohol consumption. Fifty-one percent of respondents to a poll conducted by Mount Sinai South Nassau said they would consider drinking less or encourage others to do so after Murthy recommended new labels on alcohol packaging warning about the risk of cancer. The “Truth in Medicine” poll surveyed adults on Long Island and in the city between January 26 and 30. The recommendation must be approved by Congress to go into effect.
