At a Glance: March 11

CDPAP UPDATE: Roughly 115,000 consumers who receive home care through the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, or CDPAP, have started or completed enrollment with Public Partnerships LLC, the firm that will take over the program on April 1, the Department of Health said Monday. The state is in the middle of transitioning approximately 280,000 consumers to the new system by the April 1 deadline. While it has at least started transitioning 115,000 patients, an additional 30,000 have switched out of the program to get care through a licensed home health agency, which differs from CDPAP in that it doesn’t allow immediate family members to get paid as caregivers. The state’s transition has sparked criticism from local lawmakers and home care advocates, who say that the tight timeline is not feasible and will force New Yorkers to lose access to care.

MRI INSTALLATION: Montefiore Medical Center is seeking approval from state health regulators to purchase and install a new MRI scanner at its Hutchinson campus in Morris Park. The hospital is requesting to add an MRI machine to the ambulatory center and renovate more than 3,000 square feet of its radiology suite to accommodate the new technology, according to a certificate-of-need application filed to the Health Department Friday. The total cost of the project is $4.1 million.
