Hate to say we called it, but alas. Brooklyn Mirage has wiped its calendar clean yet again. All Memorial Day weekend shows have been postponed.
Unlike previous delay announcements, this one came from the venue. “We’re sad to announce that our Brooklyn Mirage shows through Memorial Day weekend have been moved to dates in July and August,” the venue wrote in a statement last night, its first since May 7 (see below). “We apologize to our incredible community of fans, artists, crew members, and staff for the delay. Although the Brooklyn Mirage is opening later than anticipated, we are making great progress towards opening our doors,” it added.
The latest round of postponements and venue-pivots places tonight’s Empire of The Sun at Under The K Street Bridge and pushes two nights of Chainsmokers’ performances to August 7 and 8, according to a post from the duo. This week’s delays mark the fourth consecutive weekend of relocations and cancellations, as the venue continues to battle with City Hall and the Department of Buildings over receiving the proper permits to finally, and safely, open. So far, shows by Peggy Gou, Underworld, The Martinez Brothers, Black Coffee, and others have been impacted. Refunds have reportedly been offered to all ticket-holders.
How much longer fans will have to wait for the venue’s grand reopening remains unclear. But it appears June might already be out of the question.
