Clergy Members: “During his lifetime of public service, he was always there when we needed him in times of crisis. He worked with us to deliver critical supplies and equipment during COVID, stood up vaccination sites to ensure equitable distribution, and effectively battled Trump. It is for these reasons and more that we enthusiastically endorse Governor Cuomo to serve as our next Mayor and we pledge to work hand in glove with him, because his success is our success.”

Today, following a meeting in Jamaica Queens, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, proudly received the key endorsement of 18 prominent clergy members who represent diverse communities across New York City. The nod came after these clergy members met with Governor Cuomo at New Jerusalem Worship Center in Queens to share their concerns and learn more about Governor Cuomo’s plan to address the affordability, quality of life and leadership crisis plaguing our City. These faith leaders add to the 78 clergy endorsements that Governor Cuomo has received in his bid for Mayor.

“These are no ordinary times — New York City is at a crossroads and as faith leaders, we have a solemn obligation to join together in support of a leader who is ready to fight for our communities, to stand strong in the face of injustice, and actually can make a real impact to improve the lives of our congregations,” the clergy members said. “Andrew Cuomo is a leader who has been tested and can be trusted to protect us during these challenging times. During his lifetime of public service, he was always there when we needed him in times of crisis.

“I am blessed to have the support of these esteemed faith leaders who preach the gospel and guide us forward in their wisdom and abiding spirit of hope,” Governor Cuomo said. “These are challenging times for our city, but I have never been more optimistic for the future, because together there is nothing we cannot do when New Yorkers are united. When I become Mayor, I look forward to working with these noble leaders to build more affordable housing and improve the quality of life for their congregants and their communities.”

This clergy endorsement comes on the heels of Governor Cuomo’s visit to Alliance Tabernacle and Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Brooklyn.
