A helicopter has crashed into the Hudson River, the New York Police Department said, the latest in a string of aviation incidents in the past few months.
All six people on board the helicopter Thursday afternoon were killed, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
Onboard were a pilot, two adults and three children, according to law enforcement sources. The family members were tourists from Spain, sources said told ABC News.
Earlier today, a passenger jet carrying at least six members of Congress was clipped by another commercial plane on the ground at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport near Washington, D.C. The incidents are shaking confidence in the safety of the U.S. aviation system following a deadly midair collision between a U.S. military helicopter and regional passenger jet near Reagan airport in January.
The NYPD in a post on X warned of traffic delays and to expect emergency vehicles along the West Side Highway and Spring Street in Lower Manhattan.
