A townhouse that once hosted TV stars and their parties is up for sale.
The home on West 11th Street was last owned by TV writer and producer Eric Gilliland, who died in September. Gilliland was best known for his work on Roseanne, where he worked as a writer and eventually executive producer in the 1990s. He later served as a producer on shows including That ‘70s Show and The Connors.
The home is a five-floor, 5,100-square-foot, semidetached rowhouse with eight bedrooms, a private garden and a roof terrace. The residence, built in 1910, contains its original archways and shutters as well as period moldings. The home is being sold by Gilliland’s estate, and the asking price is $22.5 million.
Gilliland bought the property in 2004 for $4.8 million, or about $8 million today when adjusted for inflation.
Gilliland would regularly gather friends at the West Village home, including at an annual Christmas party, according to a memorial in People magazine.
“It was a rager,” former food TV producer Angie Peccini, who had her wedding at the townhouse, told the tabloid. “He had a local family come play jug music, and everyone would be singing, the fire roaring. The annual invite that he emailed was always highly anticipated, and it was always very funny and well written of course.”
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Martha Plimpton were among the stars to publicly mourn Gilliland’s passing. He died from complications of cancer at the age of 62.
Denver Butson, the Douglas Elliman marketing the property, declined to comment.
