Brooklyn is home to at least one luxury high-rise for DINKs and DINKs alone, and another that’s mostly vacant. N0w, a tower at 18 Sixth Avenue, in Prospect Heights, is luring prospective tenants with a promise that’s apparently heretofore unheard of: Visa gift cards to help cover the cost of in-building social events.
As Curbed reports, residents of the 51-story Brooklyn Crossing, which boasts the requisite pool, fitness center, and so on, will receive the aforementioned gift cards in exchange for hosting game nights, watch parties, wine tastings, and similar shindigs. The building’s owner, the Brodsky Organization, calls this program Neighborly Events and offers it at some of its other properties. Get-togethers must be approved by building management, and hosts are required to “Post about the activity on Building Link”—a messaging system—”at least two weeks before the meet-up” and “Take at least 5 quality photos from the hosted get-together.” (The inquiry page includes a link to a list of photo tips.)
Via spokesperson, the company told Curbed that, thus far, its highest event-related payout has been in the neighborhood of $500. The outlet notes that a Brooklyn Crossing studio rents for close to $4,000.
