Watch the Final Primary Debate for NYC Comptroller Here on June 10

THE CITY will be co-hosting the second of two official debates for city comptroller ahead of the June 24 primary, taking place on June 10 beginning at 7 p.m., with partners Spectrum News/NY1 and WNYC/Gothamist, New York York Law School’s Center for City and State Law, the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, Museum of the City of New York and John Jay College.

Sponsored by the New York City Campaign Finance Board and moderated by NY1’s Errol Louis, WNYC’s Brian Lehrer and THE CITY’s Alyssa Katz, the debate will feature the Democratic “leading contenders,” as determined by fundraising and spending.

The Campaign Finance Board has announced that Democratic candidates Justin Brannan and Mark Levine will both participate in the second debate, after each raised hundreds of small donations totaling more than $175,000 each. State Sen. Kevin Parker of Brooklyn and Ismael Malave Perez will also be on the ballot.

There will be a Republican primary for comptroller but candidates Peter Kefalas nor Danniel Maio, both of Queens, have reported minimal fundraising and do not qualify for official debates.

THE CITY will also be co-hosting the second Democratic debate for mayor on June 12. The first debate for comptroller, sponsored by PIX11, will take place on May 29 at 7 p.m.

Early voting in the primary begins on June 14, using a ranked-choice ballot allowing voters to select up to five candidates.
