Juventus suffered an incredible home collapse, losing to Fiorentina as Roma leapfrogged the Bianconeri into fourth place. Milan are back in the race.

Matchday 37 of the Serie A season delivered absolute chaos. Juventus FC suffered a shocking 2-0 home defeat against a struggling ACF Fiorentina side coached by Paolo Vanoli. Fiorentina, after a disappointing season in which they spent weeks flirting with the nightmare of relegation, pulled off a sensational upset in Turin.

The defeat severely damaged the Champions League hopes of Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus, who slipped to sixth place in the standings, behind both AS Roma and — due to head-to-head results — Como 1907 as well.

Roma, led by Gian Piero Gasperini, did what was expected of them by defeating SS Lazio in the Rome derby. Two goals — one in each half — from Gianluca Mancini, the standout performer of the day, secured a massive victory for the Giallorossi.

By reaching 70 points in the standings — a milestone Roma had not achieved in years — the capital club overtook Juventus and climbed into the coveted fourth Champions League spot with just one game remaining. Qualification for Europe’s premier club competition is now entirely in the hands — and feet — of Gasperini’s side, who fully control their own destiny heading into the final 90 minutes of the season.

AC Milan also bounced back with an important away win over Genoa CFC, despite struggling for long stretches of the match.

The Rossoneri moved up to 70 points alongside Roma, but remain ahead thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Finally, SSC Napoli secured mathematical qualification for next season’s Champions League by beating Pisa SC 3-0 away from home.
