Overview:
Congressional Primary Race – NY-12
Micah Lasher leads the field at 28%, with a clear advantage over Schlossberg (20%), Bores (19%), and Conway (9%), if the race were held today.
Nearly one-quarter of voters (23%) remain undecided, keeping the race competitive and the outcome unsettled.
Schlossberg has the highest overall name recognition.
Penn Station Renovation
Voters prefer a bold rebuild: 51% favor moving MSG to Seventh Avenue and building a new station from the ground up with a large public park, versus 31% who prefer leaving MSG in place and making improvements underground and along Eighth Avenue.
Neighborhood impact matters: 64% say the renovation should benefit the surrounding community, not just improve transportation.
Classical design wins decisively: 48% prefer a Grand Central-style classical design vs. 21% who prefer a modern design – a more than 2-to-1 margin.
Electoral Implications
Classical design is the strongest differentiator: Supporting a Grand Central-style Penn Station generates a net +26 – 49% are more likely to support a candidate for Congress who publicly supports building a new Penn Station with a classical design vs. 23% less likely.
Bottom Line
The NY-CD 12 primary is competitive and fluid. Lasher leads but nearly a quarter of voters remain up for grabs. On Penn Station, voters are receptive to a transformational vision – particularly one that pairs a rebuilt station with a classical design. Candidates who adopt this framing stand to gain meaningfully with the district’s highly engaged electorate.
