Hollywood Is Falling in Love with Real Italian Stories

After the critical success of Cabrini—the powerful biopic of the first American saint, Italian-born Francesca Cabrini—audiences and critics alike have shown that there’s a hunger for Italian stories that go beyond the usual tropes. Directed by Alejandro Monteverde and produced by Oscar-winner Jonathan Sanger and J. Eustace Wolfington , Cabrini tells the story of a determined woman who arrived in America in the late 19th century and built schools, hospitals, and hope for the Italian immigrant community. It’s a story of resilience, identity, and faith—not crime, not caricature.

Building on that momentum, a new independent production company has just launched in Los Angeles with a mission that couldn’t be more timely. N41 Studios, co-founded by cultural producer Emanuele Scamardella and media entrepreneur Davide Ippolito, aims to rewrite how Italian and Italian-American stories are told on screen.

Backed by the creative guidance of Jonathan Sanger (The Elephant Man, Vanilla Sky, Cabrini), N41 Studios sets out to challenge decades of limited narratives. No more mafia clichés. No more nostalgic caricatures. Just real, contemporary stories of Italian identity—rooted in culture, courage, creativity, and complexity.

“We want to bring forward stories that reflect excellence, bravery, and modern identity,” says Emanuele Scamardella, a cultural strategist known for building creative communities. “It’s time to create a network of talent that shares a vision: to reintroduce Italian culture to the world as a value—not as a stereotype.”

The name N41 refers to the 41st parallel, which geographically links Naples and New York—a symbolic line connecting two cities and two cultures with shared roots and spirit. The studio is based in Los Angeles and New York, but its creative DNA is unmistakably Italian.

“A nation’s reputation is also shaped by the stories it tells—and how it’s portrayed on screen,” says Davide Ippolito, founder of ilNewyorkese, a prominent Italian-American media outlet. “For me, N41 Studios is a return to my roots as a writer and filmmaker. After years of working on independent projects, this move to Hollywood feels like the natural evolution—an opportunity to tell stories that inspire, resonate, and redefine what it means to be Italian in today’s world.”

N41 Studios intends to become a creative home for writers, directors, and producers looking to tell meaningful Italian stories with global appeal. The studio is currently developing its first slate of films and series, all aligned with its mission of authenticity and cultural pride.

In a time when audiences crave substance, identity, and truth on screen, N41 Studios offers a bold new direction: one that looks forward while honoring the past—and one that reminds the world that Italy is so much more than folklore.
