Big Apple Film Festival Returns to Manhattan with a Global Independent Slate

The Big Apple Film Festival returns to Manhattan this fall with a lineup that once again confirms its reputation as one of the city’s most vital showcases for independent cinema. Hosted at Look Dine-In Cinemas on West 57th Street, the 2025 Fall Edition brings together filmmakers from New York and across the globe for four days of screenings, conversations, and creative exchange.

Founded to celebrate storytelling outside the Hollywood system, BAFF has long been a launchpad for new talent, championing directors whose work later reached Academy Awards®. The upcoming edition promises a diverse mix: gripping dramas, dark comedies, powerful documentaries, and experimental shorts that mirror the complexity of today’s world.

Among the highlights are No Baby on Board, a deeply personal documentary exploring the decision to remain child-free; Gran’Mama, a gothic reinterpretation of Little Red Riding Hood; Bug Guts, a twisted horror-comedy born in a Brooklyn apartment; and Sunday Boys, a coming-of-age story about legacy and forgiveness. There’s also Sunday Mornings at the Beach, a poetic glimpse of life and ritual at the U.S.–Mexico border, and Live Long, a short film blending drama and magical realism.

Amid this eclectic and international program, one of the festival’s most intriguing premieres is Final Broadcast, a high-concept psychological thriller from Italian filmmaker Davide Ippolito and his newly founded Italian-American production company N41 Studios, created together with Emanuele Scamardella. The project is co-produced by Simone D’Andria in collaboration with LuckyHorn Entertainment.

Set entirely inside a television control room during a global emergency, Final Broadcast unfolds in real time as a team of journalists faces the impossible choice between telling the truth and feeding the spectacle. The film blends the immediacy of live TV with the tension of apocalyptic fiction, reflecting on the moral dilemmas of a media-driven age. The cast features Jacopo Rampini, Sheila Ann Smith, Lorelei Calder, and Kyle Anderson. The score is composed by Davide Pannozzo, featuring legendary drummer Steve Ferrone, with poster art by Emiliano Ponzi and a sound mix by three-time Grammy winner Marc Urselli.

The Big Apple Film Festival runs November 10 to 13 at Look Dine-In Cinemas, 657 West 57th Street. Tickets, screening times, and festival passes are available through the official website. The full program is on https://www.bigapplefilmfestival.com/
