LISTEN: ‘40,000 New Yorkers Lost Their Protections Today’

“We are all going to be the worst off for temporary protected status ending, and specifically Haitians in New York City. 40,000 New Yorkers are going to be losing their protections, their work authorization, and their legal protections today, and it is just gutting. It is a community that has been thriving, and now you’re pretty much cutting them at their knees and deporting them to a country where even the U.S. State Department says do not go, and if you do go make sure that you have a living will written.”

New York Immigration Coalition CEO Murad Awawdeh joins the podcast to discuss the Supreme Court green‑lighting the Trump administration’s move to end Temporary Protected Status, and how New York State and City are building new protections as federal policy hardens.

Plus, FAQ NYC hosts Christina Greer, Katie Honan and Harry Siegel discuss Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Israel rhetoric, his emerging plans for government-owner grocery shops, and much more.
